HISTORY

KurtalanVocational School was officially founded in 2009. Kurtalan Vocational School,which operates under the Siirt University Rectorate, opened the Tourism andTravel Services Program during the 2009-2010 Academic Year as per the Law No.2547 Articles 7/d-2 and 7/h, as amended by Law No. 2880; and admitted its firststudents to the Tourism and Travel Services Department in 2009. On 26.05.2010,Finance Program was also opened as per the Law No. 2547 Article 7/d-2 asamended by Law No. 2880. Subsequently, a Banking and Insurance Program wasopened in 2011. In 2012, a Foreign Trade Program was opened. In 2013, a PostalServices Program was opened. In 2014, the Postal Services (EE), Finance (EE)and Social Services programs were opened. As a Vocational School, we currentlyhave 6 (Six) Programs in regular education and two programs in eveningeducation, and the Programs Tourism and Travel Services, Finance, Finance (EE),Postal Services, Postal Services (EE), Banking and Insurance and Foreign Tradeare currently admitting students. It is intended in the future that the SocialServices Program would also start admitting students after the hiring ofnecessary academic staff..

TheVocational School is an Institute of Higher education which aims to trainintermediate staff for certain vocations with an educational program consistingof four semesters. It adapts a one-on-one teaching policy and high qualityeducational standards. The main duties of the Vocational School consist ofconducting scientific research, preparing publications and providing consultancyservices in accordance with the requirements of modern civilization, the society, and the principles and objectives ofnationwide development plans. They also involve utilizing its own expertise andfinancial resources in a rational, efficient and economic manner to train asufficient workforce in areas required by the country, in accordance with thenational education policy and principles and objectives of nationwidedevelopment plans along with plans and schedules set forth by the Council ofHigher Education.

1) SchoolBuilding  : Our Vocational School operates on 2 floors; and thebuilding area consists of 8 classrooms, 1 Computer Laboratory, 1 Library, 1open volleyball/basketball court and compartmentalized areas that are used asservice units. Our Computer Lab has 30 computers. All of our classrooms areequipped with projectors. 1 Interactive Whiteboard, 1 Principal's Office, 7Academic Offices, 1 School Secratary's work office and 2 Administrative Workoffices are also located in the building.

2) School Library : We have 1 library which containsapproximately 850 books from various fields and an Internet connection.

3) School Yard :  The land onwhich our school is located is 10.000 m2 in total surface area, and ourschool building takes up  1100 m2 of this land. Theremaining land features a parking space, a school yard and green areas. Thereis 1 guard building at the gate of our school yard. The interior and exteriorof the building  is controlled by 15security surveillance cameras.
