WHERECAN I DO MY INTERNSHIP?

Youneed to do your internship in places which are active in the subjects thatcontain the specialty of which program you normally are a student of. You needto do your internship in equal institutions/related firms with your department.Because the aim of doing internship is to experience the applications of thetheorical education personally, which you receive at school, in the businessworld.

Howeveryou need to make final decision on where to do your internship according toinformation given to you by your Department consultants. So, you need to consultto your consultants before making the formal application.

1. HOW WILL I FIND THE PLACE FOR MY INTERNSHIP?

Thestudent first makes the preliminary survey about the firms they want to do theirinternship. You need to contact with the firm/institution/foundations, whichyour department consultants found suitable for you, face to face or by writingand you should inform tell them abput the situation and inform them that youwant to work with them for your internship.

1. I COULDN’T FIND A PLACE FOR INTERNSHIP, WHAT SHALL I DO?

Thetime period of approximately 70 days between (March,…  -  June 20… ) is enough to find a place for internship. In this process the student canask for help from the academic staff, too. The student needs to determine theplace for internship for certain within the specialized time period. The students who couldn’t find theinternship place within the time specified can not do their internship.

1. I ALREADY WORK IN A WORKPLACE; CAN I DO MY INTERNSHIP HERE?

Yes,you can. Considering our day’s economic condition, it is possible for ourstudents (who can prove their situation to the class consultant or programcoordinator by payroll, wage notice, corporate identity, formal document etc.)to do their internship in the places they already work and get paid.

Howeverthere might be an inconsistency in activity field between theinstitution/foundation/workplace and the department you are studying (forexample the student who studies Tourism and Travel Services to be working witha financial advisor). If you are in a condition like this, you certainlyneed to consult to your consultants before starting your internship aboutsubjects like how to fill in the internship file. 

WHATHAPPENS IF I CAN’T DELIVER THE “INTERNSHIP APPLICATION FORM” AS ASKED OR/ANDWITHIN THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD FOR ANY REASON?

Apartfrom the reasons acceptable for excuse exams, the applications whose sectionsare left blank, which lack information, which are unreadable, unsigned,unconfirmed or which are delivered to the Student Affairs or to the Departmentconsultant after the date of ( June20….)  willnot be accepted and these students will be considered as they haven’t doneinternship.

1. I DELIVERED MY INTERNSHIP APPLICATION FORM TO MY DEPARTMENT CONSULTANT OR STUDENT AFFAIRS AS ASKED AND WITHIN THE TIME SPECIFIED. WILL I TAKE BACK ONE OF THESE FORMS LATER? IF I WILL, THEN WHEN AND FROM WHOM WILL I TAKE IT?

Ifyou please or if the work place you will do your internship in demands, you cantake back one of the Work Place Application Forms that you have delivered toyour Department Consultant or Student Affairs before, as your Social SecurityRegistration is done, from the STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE after July 20… It’s not compulsory if you don’t want it.

IS ITPOSSIBLE NOT TO DO MY INTERNSHIP THIS YEAR?

Astudent can only skip internship for 1 summer since the enterance year underthe conditions of being unable to do internship, failing the internship or theinternship to be considered invalid.  Ifit’s not the first time you are not doing it, then you can leave it tonext year. But never forget that even if you aresuccessful at all your courses and your general point average is sufficient tograduate, you can not graduate without doing your internship, you will take avictory lap.

1. I DIDN’T DO INTERNSHIP OR I FAILED IT LAST YEAR. UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES DO I NEED TO DO INTERNSHIP THIS YEAR?

Studentswho didn’t/couldn’t do their internship or who failed for any reason (likeapplying but not performing, quitting, dismissal, not filling the internshipfile as required or not getting 65 points out of 100 etc.)  for 2 years in a row, are obliged to do theirinternship this year.

1. WHO ARE INELIGIBLE FOR INTERNSHIPS?

Thosewho have successfully completed their internship, who have failed in one ormore courses due to discontinuity in 20../20.. Academic Year Fall or/and SpringSemester, who haven’t paid tuitition (for those who took a victory lap), whohaven’t registered for this semester can not do internship.

1. CAN I START MY INTERNSHIP ON THE DATE I PLEASE?

Yourinternship will only start on June 20.. (It will be determined by the School)(After this date none of the students will start their internship.)

1. HOW MANY DAYS WILL I DO MY INTERNSHIP FOR?

Accordingto the regulation, our students have to do at least 30 days of internship. For these 30 days “insurance ofoccupational accidents and professional diseases” will be paid by SiirtUniversity Rectorate. The students who want to do internship for a longer timecan do so, in condition that they fulfill at least 30 work days. But ouruniversity will not pay for insurances after 30 days of internship.  Our students who want to do internship for morethan 30 days need to know about this fact and they also need to inform the workplace they do internship about it.

Besides,it is enough to fill Score Cards and Internship File for 30 days, there is no need for our students who hasdone/wants to do internship for more than 30 days to fill in or edit thesedocuments for those extra days.

1. THE PLACE I WILL DO MY INTERNSHIP IS ASKING IF I WILL BE INSURED OR NOT, WHAT SHALL I TELL THEM?

Accordingto Law number 5510, Siirt UniversityRectorate is responsible for the students’, who applied for internship, “insurance ofoccupational accidents and professional diseases” for 30 days.After form’s related sections are confirmed by the work place authority and thedocument is delivered to the school by the student; with Social SecurityInstitution e-decleration, Social Security Entrance will be done by ouruniversity for the time period inclusive. The information about this subject isalready on the application letter as written and signed by the SchoolPrincipal. It will be enough for the work place authority to read the form.Apart from this, your university doesn’t hand any other writing or document.

IALREADY WORK IN A WORK PLACE WITH INSURANCE, I ALSO HAD INSURANCE ENTRANCEBEFORE, WILL I STILL BE INSURED?

Ouruniversity will only insure you for “insurance ofoccupational accidents and professional diseases” as you will be a “Intern Student”. This typeof insurance will not provide you with retirement or healthcare services or itdoesn’t deprive you of your rights if you are already working as insured.

1. WILL I BE PAID FOR THE INTERNSHIP?

SİİRTÜniversitesi doesn’t make any kind of payment to its students who dointernship. However, some private institutituons make an amount of payment orprovide transportation/food opportunities. This is completely up to theagreement made between the student and the institution where the student willdo internship.

1. WHEN WILL MY INTERNSHIP BE COMPLETE?

Itwill end on August 20… after 30 calendar days; if June 20… is written as the“Starting Date of Internship” in the internship application forms and if youhaven’t given a break without a valid excuse, (Public Holidays, if there areany, will be taken into consideration) (Internship start and end date will bedetermined by our School)

Ifyou have a vald excuse for not completing these 30 days within this date; youneed to deliver your Score Card to your school latest on August 20… andcontinue the remaining days after this date. In the end, when you complete 30days by doing internship for 5-6 days in a week and you have delivered ScoreCards for 30 days to your school, your internship will be completed. Whatis important here is to deliver the Scope Card to the school latest after 2-3days of internship’s end. (in other words, after completing 30 days, 2-3 daysmaximum after that)

1. I PREPARED EVERYTHING TO BEGIN MY INTERNSHIP BUT SOMETHING CAME UP AT THE LAST MINUTE AND I COULDN’T. WHAT SHALL I DO?

Ifit’s not yet the date (June 20…) you stated in the form, find a new internshipplace where you can start on the date you determined and make the applicationagain from the beginning.Inform the STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE about this situationwith a letter.

1. I STARTED MY INTERNSHIP BUT AFTER A WHILE I GOT DISMISSED (OR I HAD TO QUIT THE INTERNSHIP), WHAT WİLL HAPPEN NOW?

Ifyou get dismissed from the work place where you do internship some time afterstarting your internship, deliver a note stating the reason you’re yourdismissal and bring it to the STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE as addressed to theKURTALAN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL MANAGEMENT with confirmation by the work placeauthority.

1. WHAT IS A SCOPE CARD?

ScopeCards serve kind of like attendance charts. They show which days the employeewent to work and how many days he/she worked in total within the specified timeperiod. These charts are used for the calculations needed for premium payment,in other words they show how many days and for which days the premiums will bepaid for a that person.

1. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T DELIVER THE SCOPE CARDS WITHIN THE SPECIFIED TIME?

Internshipsof students who doesn’t deliver the scope cards within the specified time willbe considered invalid even though they have completed 30 days of work. Forthis reason, in order for your efforts to not go to waste; read theexplanations on the charts carefully and don’t miss the due date.

WHENSHALL I DELIVER MY SCOPE CARDS?

Sendin the “Scope Card” prepared with EXCEL including the explanations of thismatter within the time specified.

TOSUM UP:

Ifthe student starting the internship in June 20… completes 30 days in just one chart, then he/she should deliverit the latest in August 20... , if in a single chart he/she is left shorterthan 30 days (for valid reasons such as health problems) he/she needs todeliver the next period’s scope card for the remaining days within the timespecified. In the end, until completing 30 days, the student should fill in thescope card until the days specified every term (which means without waitin forthe month to end) if necessary.

1. WHO WILL I DELIVER MY SCOPE CARDS TO?

TheScope Cards should be delivered to the Consultants or STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE. Itcan either be delivered in person by you or a relative/acquaintance of yours orit can be sent by mail or cargo. But it’s obligatory that the scopes are withwet signature and stamped (which means fax and e-mail are not accepted.)Your internship will be invalid due to scope cards not delivered to STUDENTAFFAIRS OFFICE (or wrongly sent to different places) within the specified timeperiod, so be careful about this. The STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE’s address iswritten on the scope chart file.

1. I FILLED IN MY SCOPE CARD AS REQUIRED AND DELIVERED IT TO THE STUDNT AFFAIRS OFFICE. DO I NEED TO DO SOMETHING ELSE?

Ifyou completed 30 days at once, your internship is over  after filling in the Scope Card theway it was explained on it and delivering it to the school the latest on therelated date. If you haven’t filled 30 days into a scope card,then keepdelivering it to the school’s student affairs office by filling in the scopecard as the same way.

Thelast thing you will do for the internship applications is to fill in theInternship File and to have it ratified by the workplace as written init and as explaned by your department consultants. After doing these, yourinternship will be complete.

1. WHEN AND TO WHOM WILL I DELIVER MY INTERNSHIP FILE?

Deliveringof the internship files will be done in the first week of 20../20.. AcademicYear Fall Semester. You can deliver your files in the weekdays during this weekto your department consultant or student affairs office. You do not need tosend or deliver it before that.

1. HOW WILL I DELIVER MY INTERNSHIP FILE, WILL THERE BE AN EVALUATION TEST?

Evaluationswill be done completely by the department consultants and INTERNSHIP COMMITTEE.Evaluation type (oral or file-based) will be again decided by this committee.

Soyou can either deliver the file by hand or if the department Consultant orstudent affairs office sees fit;  also bycargo or mail. For informationabout this matter, contact department Consultant or student affairs office.

1. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T DELIVER MY INTERNSHIP FILE WITHIN THE SPECIFIED TIME?

Ifyou don’t deliver your file in  20…/20…Akademic Year Fall Semester’s first week without any excuses, it will not be accepted in thefollowing weeks. If you believe youhave an excuse, you have to document it with a medical report, deathcertificate etc as applied in excuse exams.
